Scope
Erciyes Medical Journal, published quarterly (march, june, september, december) is the
official publication of the Medical Faculty of Erciyes University. The journal welcomes the
submission of the manuscripts directed to clinical and experimental investigations, original
case reports, letters to the editor as well as literature reviews in various fields of
medicine. Research and case reports regarding medical situations revealing both increased
regional frequency and characteritic are given priority. The journal also aims at announcing
national or international scientific meeting or symposia in most fields of medicine. The editor
is free to publish or not publish scientific comminications between the authors and readers.
The reason for any manuscript being published considerably later than expected, is usually
caused by the authors mis-understanding of the regulations. Therefore the authors are
kindly requested to carefully read "instructions for authors". Editorial board, thus
reserves the right to reject any article not complying with the stated rules; the board may
make the necessary corrections or return the manuscript to the author for correction.
Submission
Manuscripts of original papers should be submitted online at www.erciyesmedicaljournal.org and
following the on-screen instructions. The author(s) should either fax Authorship Form
(available at the journal website, http://www.erciyesmedicaljournal.org/pdf/autorshipform.pdf) within three days of their online
manuscript submission or send it along with their postal submission. All the authors, in the
order of the appearance of the names, must sign authorship form.
Publication Language
The official publication language of the journal English or Turkish. Eventhough the manuscript
in Turkish, it sould have an abtract section written in English. Paper especially written in
English are preffered because of the fact that English is an international language of science.
Editor-in-Chief may want the authors to translate their paper written in Turkish that was sent
for publishing and decided for publishing at the end of the peer-review period, to English.
Ethics
The manuscripts sent for consideration for publication are subject to peer review and
must not be previously published elsewhere or be under evaluation of another journal. The
protocol of the clinical investigations must be approved by the appropriate ethical
committee of the related institution. All manuscripts dealing with human subjects must contain,
in the Materials and Methods section, a statement indicating that the study has been approved
by the committee or there should be a statement that the research was performed following the
Declaration of Helsinki principles ( http://www.wma.net/e/policy/b3.htm). In research work which includes
humans, informed consent must be obtained prior to the study and this should be stated in the
text.
Solely the authors are responsible for the content of the manuscript; the journal does not
accept any responsibility from the ideas or conclusions made by the authors. The copyright
of the published articles belong to the journal. Re-publication of whole or part of the
article without written permission of the journal is strickly prohibited.
All the authors must actively participate in the study. If the number of the authors is
more than 4, the nature of contribution of each author must be clearly explained in written
form.
Reviews
Reviews are accepted on an invitation basis. However, those who are interested in sending a
review to our journal are required to communicate with the journal before sending the
manuscript, with regard to the field of the review, and to supply a list of their previous
publications on that specific field. The editorial board, having evaluated such application,
may than require the applicant to send the review.
Letters
In the "letters to the editor" section, opinions of the readers on a specific topic or on a
recently published article in the journal may be published. The letter is immediately faxed
to the related author and the reply of the author, if there is any, is published in the same
issue. The editor is free to publish or not publish scientific communications between the
authors and the readers.
Short case or research reports not exceeding one side of an A4 paper with up to five
references may also be published as a letter.
